Celebrate Artists at the Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit

When famous artists Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning needed a burst of inspiration, they headed outside. The fresh air and hustle and bustle of daily life surrounding them was the perfect source of rich creativity to continue working on their masterpieces. Each spring, artists following in their footsteps take to the Village and take their work outside at the Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit. Join in Memorial Day weekend May 26-28 and June 2 -3, for a chance to celebrate artists and their work. Whether you’re an artist yourself, a teacher or an admirer (or all three!), enjoy the vibrant display of paintings, sculptures, photography, jewelry, woodcraft, and more at the event. While it doesn’t actually take place at the park, the sidewalk showdown University Place starting at E 13th Street and continuing down along the east side of Washington Square Park to West 3rd Street.
