Celebrating New Year's Eve in NYC

In New York City, the options for celebrating New Year’s Eve are endless, whether you are looking for something low-key, all-out spectacular or an activity somewhere in the middle.

Braving the weather and the crowds in Times Square is a timeless tradition enjoyed by people from all around the globe. It is indeed an unrivaled experience – being in the heart of the pulsating action in what many revere as the center of the world. Arrive early, dress warm, claim your spot, and settle in until the ball drops to usher in a new year of promise and possibilities.

If you’d like to soak in the Times Square vibe but prefer to do so indoors, there are myriad choices of bars, restaurants, nightclubs and so much more in the area. Check out some of the offerings at NYCGO.com, New Year’s Eve Central and Time Out New York.

For a more active alternative, you can participate in the New York Road Runners Club’s Midnight Run, a 4-mile race that kicks off at midnight (but there’s dancing beginning at 10 pm and fireworks). The race starts at the 72nd Street Transverse near Bethesda Terrace.

Colorful fireworks add some style and flair to holiday celebrations. You can check out the displays at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn (the party begins outside the main entrance of Prospect Park with hot cocoa and music) and New York Harbour near Liberty Island (hop on the Staten Island Ferry for some breathtaking views).

However you welcome in the New Year, we hope that on your list of resolutions will be a stay with us in 2016!
