For Fans of Film

With all the hoopla surrounding The Interview, it's fun to take a look back at the history, technique and technology that surrounds filmmaking and other forms of moving image. If you're a movie buff (and even if you aren't), drop by the Museum of the Moving Image in nearby Astoria, Queens, to see its incredible exhibits exploring every aspect of TV and film production. Within the museum's core exhibit, Behind The Screen, you'll discover more than 1,400 objects including costumes, computer games, still photographs and more. From 19th century optical toys to retro video games (Donkey Kong, anyone?), if it moves, it's probably here. In addition, the museum screens more than 400 films every year, ranging from silent movies to silver screen classics to shorts and documentaries. There really is a little something for everyone here at this must-see museum just a short distance from our Long Island City hotel.
