Museum in Motion
New York City is a city full to bursting with museums, and while you’ve most likely already planned to check out the MOMA and the Met, we suggest adding The Museum of the Moving Image to the list. Located less than a mile from our Long Island City hotel, the museum celebrates and chronicles all things film, with tons of props from classic movies, artifacts of early film, and a screening room that -- this month -- is running a "New York in Film" exhibition showcasing films where New York City is as much as a character as any of the actors, like "Taxi Driver," "Rear Window," and "Enchanted." Also on exhibition is "How Cats Took Over the Internet" a critical look at everyone’s favorite internet celebrities, examining concepts like the rise of user-generated content, the aesthetics of cuteness – and also cats, obviously. So pencil in this unique museum and have a different kind of day at the movies.
