The Holy Grail of Modern Art

Just three miles from our New York hotel, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) is arguably the most influential museum of modern art in the entire world, and no art lover's trip to New York is complete without spending at least few hours there. Housing more than 150,000 pieces of art as well as four million photographs, MoMa is the home to some of the most awe-inspiring works by the best known artists in the Western World, including those of Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Jackson Pollock, Vincent van Gogh, and Andy Warhol. And the museum continues to collect contemporary art today, such as a compilation of Occupy Wall Street screen prints and a selection of video games and consoles, which created a whole new category of art in 2013. Before you go, be sure to download MoMa's new Audio+ app, a free mobile guide with audio commentaries on selected works and an integrated camera. MoMa's incredible six-story building also houses movie theatres, the MoMa Sculpture Garden, and The Modern restaurant. And don't forget to do a little holiday shopping on your way out. At the famous MoMa Design and Book Store, you can buy an incredible variety of art reproductions, books, and very cool one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your holiday list.
