The Shape of Nature

There may be no better time to be strolling through Queens than mid to late-September, just as summer begins to change its tune for early fall. Intended for the third weekend of this month, your Holiday Inn Manhattan View highlights back-to-back weekends offering children and adults the opportunity for some outdoor creativity. Show up in Socrates Sculpture Park for a free workshop where you’ll explore different artist mediums on September 17th at noon to 3:00 pm.

Alternatively, families can celebrate a new Rockaway Boardwalk by dressing up for Poseidon’s Parade. Be sure to bring a sea-themed costume! Next weekend, September 24th, Astoria Park will host a community-based open run. This free event begins early at 9:00am. On Sunday, consider visiting the Fantasy Forest Amusement Park, located next to the Queens Zoo, where the magician “Rogue” will be performing at 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Wherever you end up there is sure to be a good time and plenty of fresh air.
